Project Evaluations
Ok so we have just delivered a project with over 100 young people who have had chance to really let fly and show their talent. Now what?
Did they enjoy it; what didn’t they like; what should we improve; what was their favourite bit; how did it make them feel? Critical questions to the Imagine crew and one’s that on every occasion we seek answers to.
After each and every Imagine project, evaluation forms are given to all students to complete in their own time (yes we give them a stamped addressed envelope too!). The “in their own time” bit is important. Important because we want them to do it without any of their tutors, peers or teachers looking over their shoulder so they feel obliged to give “the right answer”. And it works. We get back around 90% of our double sided forms which are both quantative and qualitative in their style. Thoughts are equally as important as numbers.
It’s the Imagine “way” that we try and give all young people we reach out to a real opportunity to carry on the skills they’ve learnt. Whether it be information for performing arts schools, youth clubs, contacts in the media, art, entertainment or sports world try and show them the next step on their newly discovered path.
One to one interviews, on and off “camera” with each pupil, also gives us a real feel for what they are about, who they are, what they’re expecting both before and after the project. Ongoing assessment if you like.
Schools and local authorities also play their part and oh how we welcome that! They supply us with key information on former students’ attendance, attainment, overall attitude and any other changes (good or bad) since they took part in the Imagine programme. This happens over a lengthy time period in order for us to obtain a pretty fair reflection and ensure it’s not a flash in the pan or early term enthusiasm. Thankfully, on every occasion it has been clearly demonstrated that Imagine has made major strides in changing their attendance, attainment, self-esteem and overall approach to life and the all important “fire in the belly”.
But as we keep saying, let’s show you. Below are a few examples of our evaluation forms, feedback from schools and teachers and assessments from local authorities. They say it far better than we ever can, or would want to.
