The important bits for parents!
Young people are at the very heart of what Imagine You Can is all about, every step of the way. But we also realise how important it is to put parents minds at rest and answer a whole range of questions that you may have.
Below are a few key points that may give a greater understanding of who we are, what we are about, how we do it and what parents can do to help.
- Each and every one of our projects are free! There is absolutely no cost to any child no matter what workshop they are doing. The project is kindly supported and paid for by regional and national funding partners, so parent’s purses and wallets can stay safely away!
- Yes, it really doesn’t matter if your child has had no dance, singing, filming or marketing experience before. We do the teaching and guide your child through every step of the way.
- No children taking part are required to buy any special equipment, clothes or materials. Imagine You Can provide everything necessary to take part in our projects. The dancers are required to wear black leggings and trainers for the performance, we provide the T Shirts.
- It’s important to remember we aren’t X Factor and that means we don’t take a "big bad wolf" approach to auditions or workshops. We treat young people with kindness, respect and a listening ear. Sure, we are firm if required when it’s in the whole group’s interest, but we certainly aren’t here to make them feel bad or worse! We are here to encourage and let them enjoy themselves.
- Imagine You Can have years of experience in working with young people and every single one of our tutors have Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau checks for your piece of mind and ours.
- For show performances, all transport is arranged by us and is at no cost to you or your child. We take students from the school to the show venue and return them afterwards. A letter will be given to you in the workshop week informing you of dates and times.
- You may wish to provide a packed lunch for your child for each day of the workshop since cafeteria facilities are usually unavailable as a result of the project timings.
- We have worked with thousands of young people all over the country from a wide range of backgrounds. We genuinely understand the fears, worries, nerves and excitement that young people will have before and during our projects. We are here to make the step that much easier and most of all, a whole world of fun.
- Imagine You Can have extensive Health and Safety, Risk Assessment and Insurance Policies for everyone’s peace of mind. Each and every participant is protected every step of the way.
- Our projects have real value. They have educational value as well as teaching genuine life skills, new skills and improving communication, aspirations. Critically we allow young people to express themselves and have fun on a project in a different environment. A number of our former students have continued into the world of music, dance, media and filming as a direct result of the Imagine You Can projects.
- Remember, you may contact the Imagine You Can team at any time of day to answer any questions you may have, no matter how simple they may seem. The mobile numbers of the Directors are on all the application forms and we are happy to chat through any queries you have.
- We are usually able to provide heavily discounted tickets to the live show performance. During the week of workshops, each student will bring home a letter with details of match ticket availability, cost and any transport arrangement.
